Yorkshire double down on ‘scurrilous’ prostitute allegations about former physio

Wayne Morton dismayed by the club’s response to his lawsuit against them

The “sacked” Yorkshire medical chief has hit back at “scurrilous” accusations levelled at him after he raised concerns about the club’s handling of the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal.

Former England physiotherapist Wayne Morton, who is suing Yorkshire for more than £500,000, told Telegraph Sport that he was “very disappointed” after the county finally responded to his claim for breach of contract, following his termination in December during Lord Patel’s purge of Yorkshire’s coaching and medical staff.

The Telegraph last month revealed details of Morton’s lawsuit – including the public disclosure of explosive accusations by the club that he had engaged in “illegal” sexual activity with a prostitute – that laid bare the extraordinary lengths to which the Patel-chaired Yorkshire were apparently prepared to go to see through a mass cull that could end up costing them almost £2 million in damages.

The allegations were branded “false”, “untrue”, “baseless” and “wrong” in Morton’s claim and “scurrilous” in public comments from the man himself, but a defence to the lawsuit signed by Patel proclaims the worst of them to be “true”.
