Xbox U-turns on £1 trials for Game Pass after price hike

Microsoft has very quietly reinstated an offer that lets new Xbox Game Pass subscribers pay just £1 for their first month.

Just four months ago, Microsoft decided to stop offering new Xbox Game Pass subscribers a £1 trial for the service. Basically, new subscribers would only have to pay £1 for their first month, allowing them to test out the service without breaking the bank.

At the time, Microsoft never really said why it did this, only saying it was ‘evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.’

This suggested it would offer a new alternative to coax new members, but it seems Microsoft ultimately decided to just bring the original offer back, right after it raised the price of Game Pass.

Microsoft doesn’t appear to have announced this anywhere on its website or social media accounts, so there’s no explanation for why it’s U-turned on its decision.
