A significant part of the Blaugrana squad has a viral gastroenteritis." The match at Levi's Stadium would have formed part of the Soccer Champions Tour but the La Liga champions were left in no position to fulfil the fixture. In a strange twist of fate, however, Barca's head coach may now regret some comments he made some eight years ago where he simply deemed gastroenteritis to be nothing more than an "excuse". Speaking prior all the way back in 2015, the former Spanish midfield general asserted to BTV: "In the football world, when someone says they have gastroenteritis, it sounds like an excuse. When you hear someone has gastroenteritis, you immediately think there's more to it than that."
