Wrexham star Paul Mullin rushed to hospital after Man Utd horror challenge

Young Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop instantly became the villain against Wrexham as his ugly challenge saw star man Paul Mullin hospitalised in San Diego

Wrexham striker Paul Mullin had to be removed from the field with an oxygen mask and rushed straight to hospital during their pre-season game against Manchester United after being taken out by young goalkeeper Nathan Bishop.

The game was paused for seven minutes after Bishop collided with the 28-year-old after he misjudged the flight of the ball. Bishop came flying out of his area after 13 minutes and collided with Mullin with considerable force.

A stretcher instantly brought onto the field as the striker stayed down and was immediately given oxygen as he was swarmed by medics. The ugly challenge saw Bishop receive a yellow card although he was lucky to stay on the field.

Thankfully, Mullin walked off the field with the oxygen mask still attached before being replaced by Billy Waters. However, he was still taken straight to a local hospital for further checks and manager Phil Parkinson later revealed he had a punctured lung.
