Manchester United’s American owners the Glazers have received huge criticism during their time at Old Trafford but former Liverpool star Danny Murphy suggests they should instead be praised
Danny Murphy has claimed that Manchester United’s much-maligned owners the Glazers should be “applauded” for their spending over the past year.
The Americans have been controversial figures since taking the helm at Old Trafford. Supporters have staged a number of protests against their ownership and it looked like fans were set to get their wish of the Glazers leaving the club.
They announced their intention to sell Man United in November, with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe installed as favourites to take over. Nine months down the line and a deal still seems some distance away.
Despite that, former Liverpool star Murphy has suggested that the Glazers deserve praise for the way they have backed Erik ten Hag in the transfer market this summer. The Red Devils have spent heavily this summer with a total outlay of around £150m so far.
