With the increase of phone use in youngsters, many parents will be wondering how best to limit their kids’ screen time, while still giving them a sense of independence.
We’re all familiar with the dangers of online and with this in mind, parents often add restrictions onto apps to ensure the content their children are consuming is appropriate – but something you can’t really control is your kids contacting their classmates.
One concerned father was left seriously concerned when he realised that his 11-year-old daughter and her friends were discussing being sent a text from someone in their class asking for “nude pictures.” The dad had a “stern talk” with his daughter about the situation, but he commented that he was shocked that the kids “try to act much older than they really are.”
He took to Reddit’s parenting forum to express his concerns with others who he thought may have been through similar, hoping for words of wisdom. He wrote: “I have an 11-year-old daughter and from what I’m experiencing is that all these kids try to act much older than they really are. I am a stepfather but have been her dad for seven years and she’s my everything.
