Worcester Warriors moved a step closer towards securing their future after administrators entered into a preferred-bidder agreement with the consortium led by Jim O’Toole, the club’s former chief executive, and James Sandford.
Atlas Worcester Warriors Rugby Club Limited propose to buy the rugby club, Sixways Stadium and the surrounding land. Under RFU regulations, they must also pay off all rugby creditors, which includes unpaid salaries and agents fees.
Worcester’s suspension for this season would remain in place should the deal go through but the club could start planning for a return to rugby next season in the Championship, which would mean recruiting a whole new squad.
The decision to proceed with Atlas will be a disappointment to Steve Diamond, Worcester’s director of rugby, who outlined
