Steve Diamond had been director of rugby before the crisis club were forced into liquidation but he is looking to get them back on track
Steve Diamond, rugby boss of Worcester until the club’s liquidation three weeks ago, has launched a rescue bid.
Diamond branded Warriors’ demise the “darkest day for English rugby” and 20 players have since moved on.
But their director of rugby hopes to salvage the club and is understood to have financial backing from Adam Hewitt, the club’s former shirt sponsor, as well as a London-based investor.
“My goal is a sustainable business able to compete back in the Premiership within three or four years,” he said. “To allow professional rugby to thrive in Worcester which is really important because sport is massive in the community.
