A woman who poured human faeces over Captain Sir Tom Moore memorial has been spared jail.

Madeleine Budd targeted the life-sized statue of the World War Two veteran in south Derbyshire on September 30.

The stunt was staged in protest over the use of private jets in the UK, the 21-year-old explained in recorded video message.

But now she has apologised to the late charity fundraiser’s family – and avoided spending another night in prison because the damage was ‘easily cleaned’.
