A woman who almost drowned in 1996 kept her near death experience a secret for years but now talks about it on social media where she shares ‘secrets of the universe’
A woman who had a near-death experience after almost drowning said she wants to do it again after learning the “secrets of the universe.”
When Anna Stromquist was 16 years old and on a family holiday, she foolhardily ignored lifeguard warnings and took a swim in the ocean despite the area being unmanned by lifeguards and closed off due to dangerous swimming conditions. However, in the sea, Anna, who wasn’t a confident swimmer, soon started to panic as she struggled against the ferocious waves.
“Some waves or currents started pushing me into the sea floor, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get my head to the surface,” she remembers. “It was churning me around, and I didn’t know what direction was up or down.” After grappling with the current for what felt like a long time, Anna, now 43, recalls how it felt to “give up.”
