Woman who died after being attacked by two dogs had Labrador as guest at her wedding

Marie Stevens, 40, died after two vicious Rottweilers attacked her, biting her on the arms and legs, when she had tried to pet them in a park in Netherton, Liverpool

A woman who died after being attacked by two Rottweilers was an animal lover whose own chocolate Labrador was a guest of honour at her wedding.

Marie Stevens, 40, was found dead at her Liverpool home after sustaining bite wounds on her arms and legs when she pet the dogs on August 18 on Park Lane West in Netherton. Ms Stevens was bitten after she “tried to stroke” the two dogs, who were on a leash at the time. Ms Stevens had been bitten multiple times. Paramedics rushed her to hospital and she was later sent home where she later died.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog in a public place before both were bailed.

Today, it emerged that Ms Stevens was such a dog lover that her own Labrador was the guest of honour when she tied the knot with her husband Steve. One friend told the MailOnline: “She really loved her dog and animals in general. It is awful what has happened to her.”
