Photographs taken shortly afterwards show a smashed window at the front of the office. A spokesperson from the police was reported to have said they had received a report of wilful damage at Jacinda's electoral office at about 8.20am, during which "an object was thrown through a window". "No injuries have been reported and the building was unoccupied at the time. A scene examination will be conducted and inquiries remain ongoing.", they added. An unnamed witness to the incident described seeing a person walking down the street and approaching the front of the office, before hitting the doors with an implement. They are then reported to have thrown an item through a hole, as smoke began rising from the building shortly after. A blade, which appeared to be a bent samurai-type sword, was found at the scene ( 1News) A man working at a neighbouring business also told 1News he had heard a loud noise resembling scaffolding hitting concrete at the time of the impact. The building was not occupied at the time and no one was injured, police say. The force also confirmed that no one else was being sought in connection with the incident.
