Don and Gail died in hospital after eating the food. Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson also passed away, while her husband Ian remains in a critical condition in hospital. Police have since executed a search warrant at 48-year-old Erin Patterson's home, after which she was interviewed and was released pending further inquiries, reports 7 News. During interviews, she reportedly told officers that she had purchased the mushrooms used in the meal from a shop in the area - though no recall warnings or notices have been given for any products sold in Leongatha, which is in the state of Victoria. Erin did not fall ill following the lunch, and it is not know whether how much of the food she ate, if any. Detective Inspector Dean Thomas of Victoria Police said the symptoms in those affected were consistent with those caused by death cap mushrooms. Simon Patterson, Ms Patterson's estranged ex-husband, had also planned to attend after being invited but decided to skip the lunch at the last minute after another engagement arose. A friend of the man told the Daily Mail: "Simon was supposed to go to the lunch but couldn't make it at the last minute". The couple were said to have been on 'amicable' terms following their divorce. It emerged on Wednesday that Simon had written on Facebook last year about a gut illness that had left him hospitalised and close to death - though there is no information to suggest this is connected to the current incident.
