Woman caught selling ‘definitely not haunted’ doll on Facebook Marketplace

A New York woman has listed a ‘definitely not haunted’ doll on Facebook Marketplace for a ‘discounted’ price – but she refuses to accept returns on the antique item

An antique collector has been caught selling a “definitely not haunted doll” on Facebook Marketplace at a ‘discounted’ price. The Jester Harlequin Doll is said to be from the 1980s and still has its original lace collar and balloon.

While it naturally sits in a “seated position”, it is said to be capable of moving its arms, lifting its head, and playing music. Its advert reads: “This doll is definitely not haunted. It is vintage 1980s, in the style of Madame Verte but I don’t see any tags or brand name on it. Includes balloon and lace collar.

“It is in a seated position. Plays music and arms move, only when you wind up the little crank in the back, not just on its own out of the blue in the night. Please let me know if you need any additional information or pictures.” Advertised as “used – good” condition, the doll is on sale for $30 (£23) with no returns available from its seller in the New York area.
