Margot Robbie’s joke in speech for Brad Pitt’s BAFTA win 2020 Prior to Covid, Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the Baftas in February 2020, with the cameras panning over them during Margot Robbie’s speech. Brad was unable to attend the ceremony due to “family obligations” leaving Robbie to read out a speech full of references to Brexit and Prince Harry. She read: “Hey Britain! I heard you just became single, welcome to the club.” Robbie then read out a joke referencing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to relinquish their duties as senior members of the royal family. His words, not mine!” The camera’s then zoomed into the Prince and Princess of Wales’ reaction as they sat front row, and were visibly laughing at the joke. A resurfaced clip of William and Kate’s reaction has since gone viral on TikTok, where it has more than 70,000 likes, and where many viewers have commended the couple’s composure. This is not the first time Meghan and Harry have been brought up in ceremonies, with Rebel Wilson also using the couple during her hosting stint in 2022.
