WILKO shoppers say they are ‘in hell’ following news the high street giant is on the brink of administration.
The bargain retailer filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators yesterday, putting all of its 400 stores at risk of closing.
The discount store, which employs around 12,000 people, is a beloved name on the high street for the vast array of homewares and bargain essentials it sells.
But like many other retailers, Wilko is said to have seen a big drop in footfall over the last few years, with shoppers cutting back on spending due to soaring inflation.
High energy costs and a shift towards shopping online after the pandemic are also taking a toll on the high street.
