"I spoke to friends before I came and Didier Drogba told me, 'Go to Gala'." Zaha turned down a £200,000-a-week offer from Crystal Palace to sign for the Turkish outfit. He was also linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Lazio and Fenerbache. After jetting into Istanbul for the transfer, the ex-Manchester United star sent fans wild as he posed with a Galatasaray scarf. On his move, Zaha added: "It was a wonderful welcome. Many of our fans were there. "I will have the opportunity to play in the Champions League for the first time. "We will give my contribution when I can and make an effort to move forward. "To be honest, I talked to many of my friends before I came, like Drogba, [Patrick] van Aanholt. "I've stepped in here too. When I wear the jersey, I will give my 100 per cent. "We want to win the championship for our fans this season." Zaha's first taste of senior football came with Palace back in 2010, before he sealed a move to Man Utd in 2013.
