Wilderness Festival review — the Chemical Brothers blow new minds

★★★★☆At what may be Britain’s most middle-class festival there was no cost of living crisis. Summer dresses were on sale for hundreds of pounds. Every fine-dining experience was sold out. In the champagne tent folk were entertained by a tot with a bubble gun.

Wilderness prides itself on being a slice of fantasy life and, for all the sniggering at its ostrich burgers and stilton fries, it rarely fails to deliver. On Friday, when the sun finally poked out, the site was awash with adults in fancy dress doing everything from aerobics and karaoke to debating gender issues.

If the posher parts of the festival felt a touch too much in the present climate, there were no such concerns on the main stage. The
