Wild footage shows drivers avoid over 30 utility polls knocked down by brutal storm

Severe storms in the eastern United States cause widespread destruction, downing trees and power lines, canceling flights, and leaving more than a million homes without electricity

Wild footage has emerged showing drivers narrowly avoiding disaster as they navigated around more than 30 utility poles that were knocked down during the storm.

Communities across the eastern United States were clearing away downed trees and power lines Tuesday after severe storms killed at least two people, damaged houses, cut electricity to more than 1.1 million homes and businesses, and canceled or delayed thousands of flights.

As the storm raged on, utility poles lining several streets in Westminster, Maryland, were taken out by the force of the elements, crashing onto roadways and narrowly missing cars, footage shows. Dozens of vehicles were trapped amid a string of power lines that fell like dominoes onto a highway.
