NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt has revealed the government’s latest fiscal priorities, making the announcement shortly after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak returned from the G20 summit.
In his Autumn statement, the Chancellor sought to address the difficult economic situation the country is in by addressing both spending and taxation, as well as introducing new fiscal rules.
The latest statement from the Chancellor comes after the disastrous introduction of Kwasi Kwarteng and Liz Truss’ mini-budget saw enormous economic turmoil, the fallout from which ultimately cost them their jobs.
Some of the measures that were introduced included an uprating in both the National Living and National Minimum Wage, a lowering of the Income tax additional rate threshold, as well as a review of the Energy Price Guarantee.
