What Sarina Wiegman told the Lionesses after England reach World Cup final

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Sarina Weigman praised the Lionesses for sticking to their gameplan and silencing the home crowd after England beat Australia to progress to the World Cup final.

The Lionesses booked a spot to take on Spain in Sunday’s showpiece after goals from Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo.

England were favourites in front of a sold out 76,000-strong crowd at Stadium Australia but the support for the Matildas was strong, as the Aussies looked to reach the final for the first time in their history.

But, barring a 15-minute spell before Russo’s late goal, England kept Australia at bay and played the ‘unemotional’ game that Weigman had requested.
