A series of allegations relating to the presenter Huw Edwards have rocked the BBC. After several days of speculation, the presenter was named by his wife, Vicky Flind, in a 200-word statement on Wednesday.
The statement said that Edwards had struggled with his mental health and was receiving in-patient care in hospital, adding that he would respond to the stories later.
The Metropolitan Police has said that it has found no evidence of any criminal offences.
