Wetherspoons fans have shared their dismay on Twitter at the news it has hiked the price of its guest ale at some bars
Punters claim Wetherspoons has become “too expensive” for drinkers after the large chain hiked the price of a pint at selected bars.
The price of a guest ale has increased from £3.39 to £4.39 – a steep 29 per cent – at 15 bars, all of which are in London.
Eddie Gershon, spokesman for the chain, said pubs in these areas have larger overheads than those outside the capital but believes Wetherspoons still offers “best value” in the market.
Customers shared their disappointment on Twitter, though, with some describing the chain as “expensive” despite its long association for cheap drinks and meals.
