It read: "We sadly announce that The Widow Frost is now closing on September 17, 2023. "We are all hoping but not promising to see you all round at The Stag and Pheasant." The Stag and Pheasant is another Mansfield Spoons venue. Loyal pubgoers packed The Widow Frost to give their local the send off it deserved. A Celine Dion tribute performer took to the stage for some entertainment, while banners and balloons were put up across the bar. Despite a sad reason behind the occasion, local residents appeared in good spirits as they celebrated all their good times shared in the pub. One previously commented: "This is so sad," while another said: "It's not a bad pub really, never had a bad experience in the past." A third added: "We've had some blinding times in there, always loved that pub." Someone else penned: "Absolutely devastated at the closure, the last time drinking here, onwards and upwards, to the next spoons round corner." "The great thing about The Frost was you were treated like you're local, they knew what you drank and the service was quick", penned someone else. "Been in Widow Frost this morning and although sad they are closing and earlier than originally planned, pleased to hear all the staff are being redeployed either to stag Sutton or Kirkby," wrote another. One devastated punter commented: "Not many pubs like that any more, I miss them, that's when a pub cared about its regulars and not just their money."
