That's despite the fact that console and Game Pass sales continue to underperform, but in a new interview Xbox boss Phil Spencer has committed to being part of the next generation of consoles, and not just rely on streaming. 'We're investing in future hardware. So you're gonna continue to see hardware coming from Xbox, said Spencer. 'We think that's important, and we love the console experience. We're not running away from that.' Spencer ensured everything he said was just ambiguous enough not to count as an official announcement, but he seemed to downplay the chances of there ever being a mid-generation upgrade, similar to the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro. Rumours of a PS5 Pro have been rampant but there's been next to nothing on a possible Xbox Series X/S and Spencer certainly said nothing to change that. He did, however, seem to hint that he might relax the parity rules concerning the Xbox Series X and S, citing the recent example of Baldur's Gate 3 being unable to run its split-screen mode on the Xbox Series S. Because Microsoft demands all Xbox Series X/S have the same functionality that means the game has been delayed indefinitely on Xbox and may not be out until next year.
