The Welsh club’s Hollywood ties have endeared the club to millions, with the next season of the hit TV show set to chronicle the Red Dragons’ rise back to the EFL
The stock of Wrexham AFC has never been higher and it is showing no signs of dwindling either as a new season of the TV show chronicling its whirlwind rise has been announced.
With the club’s Hollywood links and promotion heroics endearing the Red Dragons to enthusiasts from across the globe over the past year, Season 2 of “Welcome to Wrexham” will likely see the interest in the Walian outfit reach fever pitch once again. The hands-on approach of co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds and guidance of coach Phil Parkinson saw the Racecourse Ground side reach the EFL for the first time in 15 years last season.
Now, it appears that the club will be back in the spotlight once again following the success of the first season of the docuseries on Hulu, with a second season of the show slated for release on September 12. Coyly teasing the prospect, the series’ Twitter account simply posted: “More than just a town. FX’s Welcome to Wrexham season 2 premieres Sept. 12. Stream on @hulu.”
The first series, of course, allowed supporters to gain unprecedented access as the cameras descended on the North Wales town, with their failure to gain promotion from the National League in 2021-22 committed to film. However, this new series is expected to demonstrate how the club’s landmark promotion unfolded.
