This National Prosecco Day, we taste-tested and reviewed Asda, Marks and Spencer, Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s own prosecco, so you know where to shop for the finest fizz to celebrate
Prosecco is now the tipple of choice for many fizz-drinkers so it’s no wonder there is a national day to celebrate the alcoholic beverage – National Prosecco Day.
Gone are the days when champagne connoisseurs would flock to the Cava section in supermarkets when they were in need of budget booze, as supermarkets are now lined with a range of proseccos, including their own.
So much so that the UK is now the largest market in the world for prosecco, importing over a third of all the prosecco shipped worldwide.
To mark the dedicated day for the fizz, this August 13, we decided to taste-test some of the leading supermarkets’ own bottles of the stuff, so you don’t need to waste your time scouring stores looking for the best options, based on budget and flavour. We tried Asda, Aldi, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, and it has to be said, there was one clear winner, and we know where we’ll be shopping for our fizz from now on.
