The eight-time Wimbledon champion appeared on stage in his home town of Zurich, Switzerland
Wimbledon maestro Roger Federer made a surprise cameo at a Coldplay concert in his native Switzerland where he performed alongside lead singer Chris Martin.
Federer, the former tennis world number one and 20-time major tennis championships winner, was introduced by Martin as an “original band member” when he joined the group on stage at Stadion Letzigrund, in Zurich, on Sunday.
Remembered for his legendary performances on Centre Court, Federer played a shaker during the band’s rendition of ‘Don’t Panic’ from their debut album Parachutes.
During the performance, Martin repeatedly called on Federer for a “shaker solo” before the band temporarily stopped playing. Cheered on by jubilant fans, Federer was heard asking “how’s that” as he shook the instrument in front of the microphone.
