Simply put, you could get a £1000 penalty charge and six points on your licence for simply checking the screen of your smartwatch.
Despite no specific laws around smartwatches in the Highway Code, the Department of Transport confirmed in 2015 that being caught using a smartwatch while driving carries the same penalty as using a phone.
