States are already reporting several cases of voter intimidation to the authorities as Americans head to the polls for the vital Midterm elections. States like North Carolina have reported 16 incidents alone
Reports of alleged voter intimidation have already surfaced as Americans head to the polls for today’s Midterm elections.
North Carolina’s State Board of Elections (NCSBE) confirmed to ABC News that sixteen incidents have so far been reported including interference of voters, intimidation and harassment.
The board will decide if the US Department of Justice (DOJ) needs to investigate or if the matter should be sent to a district attorney’s office.
NCSBE director Karen Brinson Bell said on Monday: “There could be situations where depending on the circumstance, it could be voter intimidation or something that interferes with the voter’s ability to cast their ballot; those could be raised to [the Department of Justice] and civil rights violations.
