Virgin Media scraps popular broadband plan leaving customers facing higher bills

Virgin Media has removed its popular Ultimate Oomph plan and replaced it with a bundle that get slower speeds for the same price.

If you’ve recently been checking out Virgin Media’s broadband deals pages you may have noticed a pretty significant change has taken place. Until recently, Virgin offered a plan called the Ultimate Oomph bundle which featured premium TV channels (including Sky Cinema and Sky Sky Sports), an unlimited O2 SIM for your smartphone along with the firm’s very best 1Gbps broadband.

That ludicrously fast speed offers the ability to download a full HD movie in under 40 seconds which is mightily impressive and 10 times quicker than the UK average.

Prices for the Ultimate Oomph plan started at around £80 per month but anyone wanting to take Virgin up on this deal will now be sorely disappointed.

As spotted by the eagle-eyed team at ISPreview, Virgin has ditched Oomph in favour of a new option called the Mega Volt Bundle instead.
