Supply shortages send prices of second-hand cars soaring
The average price of a used Ford Fiesta has soared as production of Britain’s favourite car comes to an end.
Second-hand Fiestas less than a year old are changing hands for £23,600 – around £400 more than a new version of the same car – because of long waiting lists and a severe shortage of supply, according to data from Auto Trader.
A typical used Fiesta now costs £3,110 more than before pandemic disruption to car making sent prices soaring.
Ford announced it was ending production of the popular motor after 40 years of production in Europe earlier this week, and since then searches for the model have risen 11pc, Auto Trader said.
