Novak Djokovic ended the US Open run of America’s new tennis star Ben Shelton in brutal fashion by winning their semi-final contest in straight sets before imitating his opponent’s trademark post-match celebration.
Despite facing second serves of up to 143mph, the 23-times grand slam champion from Serbia was too strong over the course of two hours and 41 minutes on Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday night, as he soaked up the barrage coming towards him for a 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) victory.
