United Airlines flight to Rome plunges 28,000 feet in 10 minutes, then reverses course

Flight 510 took off from Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday evening bound for Rome, Italy, carrying 270 passengers plus 14 crew members before dropping 28,000 feet in 10 minutes

A United Airlines flight carrying 270 people was forced to divert after plunging 28,000 feet in seconds.

Flight 510 took off from Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday evening bound for Rome, Italy, carrying 270 passengers plus 14 crew members. However soon after takeoff a “possible loss of cabin pressure” caused the Boeing 777 to lose altitude.

A spokesperson for United Airlines told Fox News Digital that the flight returned to Newark airport “to address a possible loss of cabin pressure. The flight landed safely and there was never any loss of cabin pressure.”

All passengers were transferred to a different aircraft to continue their journey to Rome–Fiumicino International Airport. According to FlightAware records, the flight dropped in altitude by around 28,000 feet in 10 minutes.
