Politicians suggest police resources being used to investigate attacks on Ulez cameras rather than more serious crimes
The expansion of London’s Ulez zone is wasting police time, Sadiq Khan has been told.
Politicians have suggested the expansion of London’s ultra-low emission zone means police resources are used investigating attacks on Ulez cameras rather than on more serious crimes.
MPs have called for the Ulez zone to be scrapped and for the cameras to be used to catch criminals rather than imposing fines on drivers.
Mr Khan, the Mayor of London, expanded the Ulez zone to the whole of London on Tuesday. Under the new rules, drivers of vehicles that do not comply with certain emissions standards must pay £12.50 daily charge, and face fines of up to £180 if they fail to pay.
