The research showed that the average crime rate across the nation’s 50 safest postcodes comes in at just 27 crimes per 1,00 people. However, potential buyers will have to be prepared to ‘dig deep’ if they want to purchase within one of these postcodes, with the average property price coming in 24 percent more than the current UK average. The current average home in the UK is £285,861, and properties in these safe areas average at £355,573. The safest of the postcodes is Cornwall’s PL35, with a crime rate of just six crimes per 1,000 residents last year, according to the pros. Exeter’s EX37 postcode is the second safest in the nation, although again, the average house price in this area is currently 14 percent higher than the UK average. Cumberland’s CA19 postcode is the joint third safest in the nation with a crime rate of just 18, and an average house price of £378,482.
