One of the biggest expenditures would be booking a hotel. The cost per night for a UK hotel stay has gone up 33.8% since 2018 and will now cost you £28.47 more per night. Say you want to eat out while on your holiday – as so many naturally do – that will also cost you 30.1% more. The average cost of a restaurant meal has gone from £11.41 in 2018 to £14.84 in 2023. Even car hire in the UK has shot up, costing you on average £34.62 more than it did in 2018. Average costs for car hire now sit around £82.31, 72.6% more than it was in 2018 (£47.69).
