Temperatures in some parts of Britain will rise as high as 33C later this month following a grey start to August, as Met Office experts say we are living in a ‘new abnormal’
After weeks of miserable, grey skies, Brits are more than ready for the heat to be turned up.
The country has missed out on the Cerberus heatwave which saw terrifying temperatures smashing the 40C mark across Europe, with a stubborn jet stream instead bringing showers in the form of Storm Antoni. But forecasters have said the thick band of grey clouds look set to shift later this month.
According to the Met Office, the heat will be dialled up again in the second half of August with predictions temperatures at one point may reach 33C. Meanwhile experts have admitted that a heatwave similar to one experienced on the continent remains not out of the realm of possibility.
A plume of hot air from North Africa will surge north over Spain and France before hitting the UK, with thermometers set to start rising from Wednesday, August 16, onwards. London and the South East and the East Coast in particular are set for extremely hot temperatures with the possibility of weather warnings for millions of Brits.
