A spokesman for the Met Office, Stephen Dixon, told the Mirror: "After a short-lived warm spell for many on Thursday, a return to a more showery regime will occur into the weekend, with some thundery downpours possible in places. On Friday, some heavy bursts of rain will move east, with the most frequent showers expected in Scotland. "The weekend weather is influenced by low pressure out to the west of the UK, bringing periods of showery rain, especially to those in the north and west. Eastern areas are likely to be somewhat drier, though even here some showers could develop further east on Sunday." "The signals for next week are for this showery regime to continue, with a mixture of sunshine and showers. There's a chance some of these showers could be thundery in places, though details won't be determined until closer to the time."
