Tyler Adams finally secures next club after Chelsea transfer falls through

Tyler Adams missed out on a transfer to Chelsea, but the USMNT star – who captained his nation at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – is set to complete a move to stay in the Premier League

USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams is set to complete a transfer to Bournemouth and stay in the Premier League following Leeds United’s relegation last season.

On Friday, Bournemouth agreed a deal with Leeds to sign Adams for a fee of $29 million (£23m) plus achievable add-ons. News of the deal emerged following protracted negotiations with the south coast club, who felt the need for midfield re-enforcements.

Adams reportedly underwent a medical on Friday afternoon and the 24-year-old is set to sign a five-year deal. It brings to an end his career with Leeds after one season in which the American made 24 appearances in the 2022-23 Premier League season.

On Thursday, The Athletic reported a potential deal for Adams was complicated. Bournemouth believed they had triggered a time-limited relegation release clause valued at $25 million (£20m), but Leeds insisted any such clause had expired.
