 Teddi Mellencamp has posted a photo of the results of a recent procedure she underwent in a bid to have a melanoma removed. The TV star, 42, was diagnosed with skin cancer last year and posting new photos of her back admirably explained she wanted to share treatment updates in the name of 'transparency' and 'helping others'. Mellencamp explained she has turned to new immunotherapy treatment and penned a lengthy update. With her back turned to the camera and her scar on display, Mellencamp told her one million Instagram followers: 'Another update I didn't want to give but in an effort to be fully transparent and help others, here goes.' She went on: 'I received the call yesterday from my doctor that not all the margins are clear after my last wide excision surgery. 'Because the area is so broad they no longer feel comfortable cutting.' 'Immunotherapy is an anti-cancer treatment that uses the body's immune system to attack cancer cells. 'An immunotherapy cream called imiquimod (Aldara®) is a cream that stimulates the immune system.' Soon after, Mellencamp learned she had 12 melanomas that needed to be removed over eight months. This month, Mellencamp tearfully confirmed another melanoma had been discovered on her back.
