 Donald Trump has released a rambling rant comparing his new charges to the persecution of Jewish people in Nazi Germany. The former US president was hit with fresh criminal charges in relation to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election yesterday. These include conspiracy to defraud the US government, violet rights and obstruct official proceedings. This means he will now be arrested by the FBI as part of their investigation into the January 6 Capitol Riots. Responding to these new charges, Trump's team put out a statement comparing his treatment to that of a Jew living in Germany during the Third Reich. The unhinged rant read: 'The lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union, and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes. 'President Trump has always followed the law and the Constitution, with advice from many highly accomplished attorneys.' The indictment, which was handed down by a grand jury yesterday, said Trump was 'determined to stay in power' and 'spread lies' about voter fraud to 'change electoral votes'. He was charged with: one count of conspiracy to defraud the US government, one count of conspiracy to violate rights, one count of obstructing an official proceeding and one count of conspiring to obstruct an official proceeding. The indictment also charges six unnamed co-conspirators, one of which can be easily identified are Trump's former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani.
