Donald Trump was talked out of announcing his intention to run in 2024 during a recent rally in Pennsylvania, reports have claimed. Mr Trump joined TV doctor-turned-Republican Senate candidate, Dr Mehmet Oz, in the Keystone State ahead of the US Midterm Elections on November 8. The 45th President was set to use the appearance to confirm his candidacy for the Grand Old Party’s nomination.NBC News claimed the ex-POTUS believed his rally in Latrobe on Sunday night could be used as a “backdrop” for declaring his third successive election bid. However, Mr Trump reconsidered the move as advisers “urged him not to” declare after warning it would overshadow key races which the Republicans must win to take control of Congress.Despite not officially confirming his candidacy, Mr Trump yet again teased his supporters about a potential White House return. He said: “I promise you in the very next…very, very, very short period of time, you’re going to be so happy.”One of the reasons I don’t want to do that [declare for 2024] right now…because I’d like to do it…you know what, and I really mean it, I’d like to have the focus on Dr Oz… Because we have to win, alright?”JUST IN: Biden ‘contributing’ to DeSantis’ bid as POTUS makes ‘2024 play’ Donald Trump ‘urged’ not to declare early White House bid as ex-POTUS ‘itching’ for 2024 (Image: Getty) The 45th President was set to use the appearance to confirm his candidacy for the GOP’s nomination.
