Manchester United have finally made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Andre Onana and scheduled a medical, while Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all want to continue their summer spending sprees
The 2023-24 Premier League season is now less a month away and some of the division’s biggest clubs are kicking their summer transfer windows into gear.
On Saturday, Arsenal finally confirmed the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham for a club and British record £105million fee. That followed completing a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber for £38.5m, with Mikel Arteta’s summer spending now beyond £200m after also welcoming Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
The Gunners may lead the way but Manchester United are keen to follow, as the Red Devils have finally reached an agreement with Inter Milan over the signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana. Erik ten Hag also wants to bring in a new No.9 but Atalanta’s £85m valuation of Rasmus Hojlund is proving a sticking point for cash-strapped United, who are dealing with Financial Fair Play Issues.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are preparing to replace midfield duo Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who both look set to head to the Saudi Pro League. Southampton starlet Romeo Lavia and Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips are names on their shortlist, unlike top Chelsea target Moises Caicedo.
