Trans women set to be banned from female wards under Health Secretary plans

According to The Telegraph , the leading politician is set to announce a push back against “wokery” in the health service. His plans are set to include giving men and women the right to a ward shared only by members of their own biological sex. He also aims to give people the choice to have intimate care provided by someone of the same sex. The Health Secretary told the publication it would be a ‘a common-sense approach to sex and equality’. It comes after 2021 guidance reportedly told NHS medics to allow trans patients the choice to be based on single-sex wards of the gender they identify. Barclay is also set to announce the return of “sex-specific” language after references to women were removed from advice on menopause and ovarian cancer. He wants to look at strenghtening patients’ rights and protection for women. Under the changes he is set to announce, trans patients could be housed in separate accommodation, which would include their own room. He told The Telegraph: “We need a common-sense approach to sex and equality issues in the NHS. That is why I am announcing proposals for clearer rights for patients. ‘And I can confirm that sex-specific language has now been fully restored to online health advice pages about cervical and ovarian cancer and the menopause. It is vital that women’s voices are heard in the NHS and the privacy, dignity and safety of all patients are protected.’ While a source close to the Health Secretary added: “The Secretary of State is fed up with this agenda and the damage it’s causing, language like ‘chestfeeding’, talking about pregnant ‘people’ rather than women.
