Tottenham star Son Heung-min unable to take selfies with fans due to sponsorship deal

South Korea and Tottenham forward Son Heung-min signed a new endorsement deal earlier in 2023, and it has brought issues for fans of the former Bayer Leverkusen star

Son Heung-min’s sponsorship deal with Samsung means he is unable to hold rival phones to take selfies with fans.

The situation came to light in footage of a supporter approaching the Spurs forward for a selfie while holding an iPhone. After spotting the model of phone held up by the fan, he was forced to offer his apologies.

While Son is unable to hold rival phones himself as part of the deal with Samsung, there has been no issue with fans taking photos with him if they do so without his assistance. The South Korea international was shown happily taking a photo with a fan who presented him with a Samsung phone.

The video in question was posted on TikTok. It shows a clearly apologetic Son making the unusual situation clear to the fan. However, he does allow them to hold the phone to take a snap in order to avoid issues relating to his sponsorship deal.
