Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has questioned whether other ‘big teams’ would have suffered the same fate as his own after a controversial VAR call on Wednesday night. His side drew 1-1 with Sporting, though Harry Kane thought he had won it for Spurs with a 94th minute goal before it was chalked off for offside.Spurs thought that they had won the match in the 94th minute after Kane latched on to a header from Emerson Royal and smashed the ball into the roof of the net. However, VAR deemed that Kane was in an offside position after the initial header. The decision enraged Conte and he was dismissed for venting his frustrations. Speaking to BT Sports after the game, he said: ‘The ball was in front of Kane. It’s a goal. I don’t understand the line that they put. It’s very difficult to comment on this decision. VAR is causing a lot of damage”I want to see if in another stadium or another big team if they disallow this type of goal. I’d like to know this. I feel a lot of injustice. I don’t like this type of situation because I see not positive things.” Conte was furious with the decision (Image: BT SPORT)Given that Spurs thought they had secured all three points and booked their spot in the knockouts, tensions were high after the goal was chalked off. Tottenham players, staff and substitues were all dumbstruck by the decision and questioned why the goal did not count given that they felt Kane was level with Emerson.Conte was then shown a red card by referee Danny Makkelie for his appeals, a decision that he also questioned. The Italian boss continued: ‘All the people come inside (the technical area) after the decision to disallow the goal and then he came to give me red card. We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story. For the latest news and breaking news visit: express.co.uk/sport/footballStay up to date with all the big headlines, pictures, analysis, opinion and video on the stories that matter to you.Follow us on Twitter @dexpress_sport – the official Daily Express & Express.co.uk Twitter account – providing real news in real time. We’re also on Facebook @dailyexpresssport – offering your must-see news, features, videos and pictures throughout the day to like, comment and share from the Daily Express, Sunday Express and Express.co.uk.
