Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will not be at the club next season according to former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor with last night’s defeat to Nottingham Forest the perfect example of a ‘Spursy’ performance. The Lilywhites were knocked out of the Carabao Cup with the result, passing up an opportunity to compete for their first silverware since 2008. Tottenham had previously enjoyed their best-ever start to a Premier League season after taking 23 points from their opening 10 games. However, their performances have dropped off in recent weeks with the result at the City Ground and have failed to win five of their last seven games in all competitions. They have got behind in all of the fixtures with their first-half performances particularly poor. Conte has also been heavily criticised for his play style, with many fans unhappy that the club are not easy on the eye. Now, Agbonlahor has suggested the Italian may not have a long-term future at the club with fans unwilling to accept the football on offer if it does not come with the benefit of trophies. ‘Spurs are getting away with it this morning,’ he told TalkSport. ‘Spurs fans would take constantly playing this sort of football if he [Conte] was going to guarantee them a trophy but they’re not going to win the Premier League. They’re not going to win the Champions League. FA Cup is much harder to win in the Carabao Cup. I don’t think he’ll be there. I don’t think they’ll win anything this season.’ The 36-year-old also placed doubt on Harry Kane’s long-term future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the England captain desperate to win trophies.
