Tory Party suspends Matt Hancock after signing up for I’m A Celebrity 2022

Matt Hancock has been suspended from the Conservative Party for signing up to ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’.

The former minister had the whip withdrawn after it emerged he’ll appear on the TV show later this month while parliament is sitting.

Mr Hancock sits as a backbencher after being forced to resign in June 2021 over footage of him kissing his aide during lockdown.

The West Suffolk MP revealed this morning he intends to take up to a month of off while parliament is sitting to appear on the show, which is filmed more than 10,000 miles from his constituency.

Mr Hancock is paid more than £84,000 a year to represent the area in the Commons and received more than £14,000 on top for extra writing and speaking engagements.
