England started the third day of the fifth and final Ashes Test by opening their second innings, but Jonny Bairstow’s time at the crease was interrupted by a pitch invader
A topless pitch invader brought a halt to day three of the fifth Test of this year’s Ashes series during England’s second innings.
The hosts were bowled out for 283 in their first innings, but Australia could only take a 12-run lead after day two at the Oval.
After Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett raced England out to a substantial lead in the first hour, Ben Stokes and Joe Root helped to pile on the runs. After Harry Brook’s quick dismissal, Jonny Bairstow strode to the crease.
As Bairstow batted though, one fan attempted to make himself the star of the show, jumping out of the stands and onto the pitch. The man also removed his shirt as he leaped over the barricades and ran around the turf.
